It’s been almost hundred years since the first computer was invented and more than fifty since the scientist communicated with each other through network for the first time. Nowadays this network is called the Internet and it has much more functions and users than it used to have at the very beginning. In fact, the invention of the Internet has changed a lot in modern society. In my opinion, web might have created not only a lifestyle but also a certain way of thinking... And this is why is so dangerous.

To be honest, I think the Internet has had not just positive but also negative effects on our civilization. Everyone knows that thanks to the Internet we can share information with everyone who uses it. Studying for a test has become easier, it's the same as comes to doing homework. In addition, there are also many relationships or even marriage that have started online.

On the other hand, the Internet turns out to be an extremely convenient tool for pedophiles and many illegal organizations and groups like terrorists or robbers. They can communicate even if they are thousand miles away from each other. They share secret information, exchange guns and drugs, they plan terrorist attacks and they help each other to cover crimes too.

Moreover, media says a lot about the websites for suicides. For some Internet users, it had deathly consequences. People who have been trying to deal with depression for many years, suddenly find 'the best way to suicide' page on the Internet.

Police all over the world starts to think how to deal with computer and Internet crimes such as fraud, spam, harassment, cyberterrorism, illegal access to the computers and many others. Artists start to complain about servers like YouTube or about software like torrents. Naturally, they have every right to complain about it.

Another reason why I believe Internet's influence on civilization is negative is the fact that people spend less and less time in places like libraries, cinemas or theaters. Nowadays teenagers don’t like to read books because they can find everything on the Internet. What is even worse, people meet rarely face to face – they prefer to send e-mails, chat or to call using Skype.

To sum up, it is ridicule to say that the Internet is a source of every sin. However we should be aware of the dangers we can face online. After all, except for many advantages, the Internet has also some drawbacks. I believe that as long as you use the Internet for the right reasons and as long as you obey the main rules of self-security, there’s no reason to be afraid.

Minęło już prawie sto lat od czasów, gdy wynaleziono pierwszy komputer i ponad pięćdziesiąt od czasu, gdy naukowcy zaczęli porozumiewać się między sobą wykorzystując sieć. Dziś tę sieć nazywamy Internetem i posiada ona o wiele więcej funkcji i użytkowników niż na samym początku. Tak naprawdę wynalezienie Internetu zrewolucjonizowało współczesne społeczeństwo. Moim zdaniem sieć nie tylko wykreowała pewien styl życia, ale też sposób myślenia… I to właśnie dlatego jest taka niebezpieczna.

Szczerze powiedziawszy, uważam, że Internet ma nie tylko pozytywny, ale również negatywny wpływ na naszą cywilizację, Wszyscy wiemy, że dzięki sieci możemy dzielić się informacjami z każdym, kto tylko jej używa. Nauka do sprawdzianu czy odrobienie zadania domowego stały się nieporównywalnie prostsze. Poza tym istnieje wiele związków czy nawet małżeństw, które swój początek zawdzięczają sieci.

Z drugiej jednak strony, Internet okazała się niezwykle wygodnym narzędziem dla pedofilów i wielu nielegalnych organizacji, takich jak terroryści czy złodzieje. Ci ludzie mogą komunikować się między sobą pozostając oddaleni od siebie o tysiące kilometrów. Mogą wymieniać się sekretnymi informacjami, bronią, narkotykami i wreszcie planować ataki i pomagać sobie nawzajem uniknąć konsekwencji popełnianych zbrodni.

Co więcej, ostatnimi czasy w mediach coraz głośniej o stronach internetowych dla potencjalnych samobójców. Niestety dla niektórych Internautów miało to śmiertelne konsekwencje. Ludzie, którzy walczyć z depresją przez wiele lat, znaleźli w Internecie „najlepsze sposoby na pozbawienie się życia”.

Policja na całym świecie zaczyna zastanawiać się nad tym, jak radzić sobie z cyber przestępczością. Artyści zaczynają skarżyć się na serwisy takie jak YouTube i oprogramowanie takie jak torrenty. Naturalnie, mają prawo się skarżyć.

Innym powodem, dla którego uważam, że Internet ma zły wpływ na cywilizację, jest fakt, że ludzie spędzają coraz mniej czasu w miejscach takich jak biblioteki, kina czy teatry. Dzisiaj młodzież nie lubi czytać, ponieważ wszystko można znaleźć w Internecie. Co bardziej przerażające, ludzie coraz rzadziej się spotykają – wolą posyłać sobie e-maile albo zadzwonić używając Skype'a.

Oczywiście niedorzecznym jest twierdzenie, jakoby Internet był źródłem wszelkiego grzechu. Jednakże powinniśmy być ostrożni i świadomi wszystkich zagrożeń w sieci. Dopóki jednak używasz go do właściwych celów i przestrzegasz podstawowych zasad bezpieczeństwa, nie powinieneś mieć żadnych powodów do obaw.
