Dear Sir/ Madam

I am writing to you in response to your advertisement in today’s newspaper concerning possible work as a tour guide. I am very interested in this kind of job and I consider that I would satisfy all your wants.

Firstly, I am bound to deal with my English-speaking tourists since I can speak English fairly fluently. I have been to England twice and it was a great opportunity to develop my language skills.

As for my local area I have proper knowledge about its history, landmarks and attractions because I have visited all of the most interesting places out of curiosity.

However, before I can consider the job, I would like to know something more about it. First of all, it is important for me to know when the job starts. I would be grateful if you could tell me about hours of work and salary as well. Furthermore, how should I understand 'be responsible for looking after the general welfare' mentioned in the advertisement?

I am afraid that I would be available for an interview only in the evenings (due to present work commitments). I look forward to hearing from you.
